We understand that many new patients feel nervous to see a Chiropodist. Foot problems can be uncomfortable or even embarrassing, and the idea of showing an issue—such as fungal nails, hard skin, or an ingrown toenail—to a professional may make someone feel self-conscious. Many are concerned the treatment may be painful, don’t like the feeling of a medical clinic, and many don’t like having their feet touched.
Although we may not take away the nervous or anxious feelings, our goal is to provide quality care in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Our Chiropodists are licensed foot specialists trained to listen and respond to your needs and concerns and provide the expert attention you deserve every step of the way.
What should I expect during my first appointment?
Your first visit includes a complete assessment of your feet and lower limbs. During this appointment, your chiropodist will:
· Review your medical history and current concerns
· Examine your feet, gait, and footwear
· Discuss a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs
· Treatment may include nail and skin care, orthotics, stretching recommendations, or advice for ongoing foot maintenance.
· We take time to educate every patient about their condition and how to prevent future problems.
How long is an appointment?
Initial appointments typically last between 40 to 60 minutes, depending on the issue, allowing for a full assessment and treatment of your concerns. Return visits, if required, are typically 20 minutes in length.
What should I bring to my appointment?
· A list of your medications, allergies, and any relevant medical information
· Your most commonly worn shoes
· Any custom-made orthotics or non-custom-made insoles you currently use
· Any other items that help, or have helped your problem
